Arrays are common to many computer languages.
However, they can be a bit of a pain because you always need to make sure you haven't run off the end of the array when you're writing to it.
This is where the
LIST types come in.
STRING is very much like
ARRAY OF CHAR and
LIST is like
ARRAY OF LONG.
However, each has a set of E (built-in) functions which safely manipulate variables of these types without exceeding their bounds.
